Nove vune i jesenski tkalački planovi / New wool and my autumn weaving plans

Although I had not much time for weaving lately, I have managed to find the stores with lovely wool, and of course could not hold on not to buy what I liked. It is always the same story - I either don't find anything interesting for awhile, or I find so many beautiful items of wool not to know which ones to choose, how many to buy and quickly decide what to use them for. In all that planning and thinking, I usually take those I really like the most, and - as it often happens - once I start weaving , the conclusion is that I should have taken a lot more of them. Does it happen to you as well? Here is the mall overview of the material that I will be in the coming weeks and months transferring into scarves, hats, fabrics of whatever inspiration I get while warping the loom.

Inspiracija / Inspiration

Autumn is here, days are shorter, cooler, nicely colored and more autumn like which is the perfect time of the year for spinning and weaving. This was a very productive weaving Saturday, and the plan remains the same for Sunday. The "problem" is that the weather this morning is gorgeous with blue skies, sunny and rather inviting to spent Sunday outside the house, but I surely will weave something small, at least. As I have been rather busy lately and often away and abroad traveling, I had no time left for weaving, but yesterday was a breakthrough day when I had reversed the situation. In a couple of afternoon hours, I have managed to produce three more hats and one lovely pink scarf. One of the hats and the scarf are planned as a present for a friend's three month old baby. I have made it a little bigger, so that the little one can use it for a number of years to come, rather then just the first winter of her life. I am sure everyone will be thrilled about the color I chose, but having had that lovely 60% alpaca, 20% acryl and 20% nylon wool mixed with equally nice pink mixed with some other gentle colors wool, made an interesting combination. The hats are, as usually, made on the Knitters Loom, while the scarf is the product of my Ashford 8-shaft loom which has been having a longer break. I used the straight twill pattern which does not come so obvious on the similar looking colors, but nevertheless produces an interesting and very soft texture.

Posljednje o kapama/The latest about hats

I was a bad writer lately. Vacation without computer, but with the small loom that resulted in two newly trained weavers on the Knitters Loom, and twelve new and interesting hats being made recently.
Of the other news is that some days ago, I received the photo of my hat creation that will be included in the latest Ashford book. I look forward seeing the publication.
Here are some of the latest creations worn by the happy new owners, and with that, I should probably close the whole hat story on the blog for a while, since I have been boring you for a while with that one.
