Lavanda/Lavender

Although it is only April, it feels like the summer is underway, the temperatures are going higher, the rain has been missing for a while and no forecast is seeing it yet. While some people are happy and excited, the others are complaining, mourning and thinking how would this unusual year end. Our lavender bushes have woken up and starting to grow again, but before the new harvest, I found some last year's lavender and branches I collected on the shores of the Island of Brac which I wove into useful decoration - it could be hanged on the wall, inside a wardrobe or window, or used simply as a table decoration.

U pripremi za izlozbu/Preparing for an Exhibition

I managed to catch cold over Easter break. I was sick, with runny nose and not really inspired for any weaving project last week. All I was able to do was to finalize spinning my wool supplies and continue spinning the silk rovings. I made some wild, wild thick wooly yarn, and some lustrous mulberry silk yarn. I will put the photos as soon as I make them.
Otherwise, I have finally set the date for my exhibition in Budapest. From Friday May 25th to 28th, 2007, a selection of my handwoven works will be exhibited at
Treehugger Dan's bookstore/cafe/gallery. If you happen to be around, do drop by and visit. It is a great little place to get all those books you wanted to read, drink a cup of organic coffee, have a chat with the owner and see one or another exhibition and buy a small present for your friends and relatives.
In preparation for the exhibition, I been pushed to finally (start) photographing my works, and - for those of you who will not make it to Budapest in May - here are the photos of my works that have not been shown to public yet. Enjoy!
Potrosila sam svu vunenu predju i napravila veselu, divlju deblju, sarenu vunu, i oprela prekrasnu, tanku svilenu predju. Slike stavljam cim sve poslikam.
Ako ste negdje u kraju, dodjite u posjet.

Easter holidays are behind us. Last Friday we happened to visit Opatija where a three day event called Kvarner Expo was taking place. It is an annual exhibition of Croatian souvenirs. Well, as you can imagine, I searched for the weavers, hand-made textile and related items. Honestly, I was very impressed by the amount of exhibitors and their creativity, although the textile works were so, so. Here are just some of the photo impressions:

Angora

Evo slicica kroz sve faze rada do dobivanja vunice.
Did you ever see the Angora hair, but not in the ball of wool that contains only a few percentages of angora? I did, this weekend. I got a bag of Angora fibre - white like a snow, and soft, fluffy, clean and beautiful. The fibres are short, but after it was mixed with the remains of the lilac merino fibre, it turned out nicely. Here are the photos of all the phases before the fibre became a wool.
