Prica o lanu II - čupanje / Linen story II - harvest
Evo i obećanog nastavka priče o lanu.
Tko zna, možda i bolje, jer još i dan danas nismo preradili niti polovicu berbe.
As promised (and while having a small break from weaving a new piece), I realized that I still owe you the rest of the linen story. I was especially reminded about it by a great friend from Cyprus who happened to be visiting during the harvest time. He sent me this message: “...nice website although you forgot to mention how long does it take to harvest a filed of linen. Especially when this is followed by a village of crazy but lovable Croatians :-)”
Here they are, the photos of the crazy crowd harvesting the flax field. Not everything was ripe yet, but since the weather forecast was calling rain and bad weather, we decided to harvest it nevertheless. The forecast was right, as the same night, there was an incredible storm with lots of rain and big winds. Should we not have done it, there would be just very little left to harvest.
Maybe better, who knows. We still have more than half of it waiting to be processed and eventually span into a lovely linen yarn.

I'm enjoying your posts on linen. Keep them coming!
I am glad I found your blog! I am a weaver too, living in Switzerland and Austria (Tirol). To you know any group, institution, guild,... for weaving in Austria?
