Svilena torba/Silk bag

Jucer popodne sam slucajno u vunenom skladistu pronasla svilu koju sam lani tjednima prela.
Idem usisavati.
By pure chance, I have found some balls of silk in my wool storage that took me weeks to spin last year. The kilogram of silk fibre has lasted such a long time, that I finally span much too thick thread just to finish it. Although I made a number of woven items, I was happy to find three of four balls of think silk yarn. And, since the last couple of items were mostly grey/black, I decided that with the nice weather coming, it is the time to make something light, elegant and interesting.
I warped the loom with 25cm wide and 190cm long cotton thread in the skin colour, which was nicely blending with the champagne colour of the silk. Well, looking on I found a small bag with the remains of the silk/cotton fabric from one of the last bits sewn by my tailor. I cut the fabric in few pieces and decided to weave it instead of weft on a few places. Well, I decided on a complicated and slow pattern on 8-shaft loom and started weaving. Instead of scarf, half a meter into the weaving, I shortened my way, and decided to have a small silk bag instead. Photos of the finished work are attached. All that is left is to think of the handle (probably would need to be knitted or crocheted), connect the ends, and the silk bag is ready for the trip. Remaining meter of the warp I plan to use for playing with patterns and colours, and…. Who knows, there could well be another bag coming off the loom. But this, tomorrow or day after. Now I have to hover and clean the flat….
