Svileni sal ili tkanina? / Silk scarf or a fabric?
Nedjelja. Stigla mi je inspiracija. Veliki tkalacki stan nisam dirnula vec vise od dva tjedna, i vec ga cujem kako ljubomorno vristi da je vrijeme zapoceti novo tkanje. Kasno sinoc sam zavrsila s predenjem slijedecih 150 grama dudove svile, i to me podsjetilo da jos imam Tussah svile prekrasne boje sampanjca, prljavo bijela i da bi s njom mogla nesto napraviti.
I tako sam nasnovala tkalacki stan, svih osam listova, sirine 63 cm, duljine preko 3 metra. Plan je raditi po predlosku sa lijeve strane. U osnovu je otislo 8 klupka crnog Dalmatinkinog "Ana" pamucnog konca (50g, 330 metara), a potka je Tussah svila (nisam racunala koliko ce svile otici, ali javljam kad zavrsim). Snovanje je trajalo dosta dugo jer sam stavila gusce brdo. Tkanje takodjer ne ide prebrzo, jer je svila predena poprilicno tanko, necu ju duplati jer ljepse izgleda ovako kako je sada. Zamislila sam da bi to mogla biti krasan stof/tkanina, ali sad kad sam otkala prvih deset cm, cini mi se da bi jos ljepsi bio ogroman sal. Vidjeti cemo kad zavrsim. Plan mi je to odraditi u naredna tri dana, no..... let's see. Za znatizeljnike, evo slike sa samog pocetka prije sat vremena:
Sunday. Inspiration has arrived. I have not touched the big loom since over two weeks, and I can hear it jealously screaming: „it’s the time to start a new project!“. Late last night I finished spinning the next 150 grams of Mulberry silk, and that reminded me that somewhere in my wool storage there is enough of Tussah silk of fabulous natural colour of champagne, off-cream colour and that I could do something with it.
So, I warped the 8-shaft loom, 63cm wide, and a bit over 3 meter long. The plan is to use the plaited twill draft above. I used 8 balls of black cotton thread (Ana from Dalmatinka Sinj). Each ball is 50 gram and 330 meter long. The weft is the Tussah silk (the report on how much have I used will come at the end). The warping process lasted rather long. The weaving is not going too fast either since the silk is rather thin and single plied. I don’t want to double it since it looks just nice as it is. I originally thought it would make a nice fabric, but now that the first 10cm are done, it seems like a fabulous new scarf project. Will see when I finish. The plan is to finalize it in the coming three days, but……. Let’s see. Here is just one photo for curious readers:
